it is the little things that do add up…truly…you cant do everything overnight and make a change..you will get burnt out or be disappointed and then stop as you will feel like a failure or that you cant do it…when in FACT you can..
it is the little things..little changes…that if you do today WILL help you and help you make a change and MAKE you feel good about where you are NOW today..
(please note my blog is for people like me (i was super morbid obese at one time and had trouble standing or walking a couple feet) so these little things may make super duper marathon runners laugh…but it is my (reality). we must do what we can and not worry/focus on what we cant…if we stick with it, we can get to where ever we want to go…health or pound number wise)
when you arrive at work, park farther out in the parking lot. those extra steps (will add up and help you get stronger). when i had WLS i could hardly walk. now that i can again, its a wonderful feeling to know i can walk from the parking lot to the door. when you have mobility took from you….and you get it back..WOW, very emotional.
listen, i love diet soda as much as the next…but to have WLS i was told no no to carbonation for life…the first 4 or 5 days w/o it, i did have a headache..withdrawals?? but now i am fine w/o it..so if you drink 5 or more sodas a day (and i use to easy), cut it down to 1 or 2..or replace with a water mixed with crystal light (they have amazing flavors now)..i prefer peach ice tea myself…am not ever w/o that..
plates…instead of using a large size dinner plate, use the smaller salad plate.
it is what i do..in my eyes (recall a former super morbid obese person who always went back to 4th or 5th helpings) seeing my food allotment on a small plate (it looks like a lot)…..trick your mind who constantly plays tricks on you….so today, use a smaller plate..see if that (helps)..dont change what food you eat, but try to see if a smaller plate lets you feel like you are eating (more)…its mind over reality here guys/gals..
today i am practicing what i write..i am parking farther out in the parking lot..
i am also going to go down the hall to the farthest bathroom in on the first floor where i work…so its some more steps…one step is the start of a journey of our own choosing…making…
so make a change
you can do it ..
and then do it again tomorrow
